FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PMMI Members will Draw Attention to Packaging, Processing & Manufacturing Jobs During Manufacturing Day 2014

Reston, Va.; Oct. 3, 2014 — PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, is proud to announce that its members are participating in Manufacturing Day on Friday, Oct. 3. Manufacturing Day is an annual event co-sponsored by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA), The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP).

Today’s manufacturing is about advanced technologies, state-of-the-art facilities and fast-paced work environment. Manufacturing Day is an opportunity to promote career opportunities to students and others looking for high tech, high paying, skill-based, stable jobs and dispel the myths surrounding this vital industry.

“Manufacturing Day is a great way to celebrate the innovation of today’s manufacturers. Activities will continue beyond just one day,” says Maria Ferrante, vice president, Education and Workforce Development, PMMI. “Manufacturers will coordinate and participate in activities like open houses, tours and career fairs throughout the month to draw attention to the many career opportunities in manufacturing. At PACK EXPO International this year PMMI will host more than 600 students who will get a first-hand glimpse of opportunities in packaging and processing.”

PMMI has invited members and partner schools to register their Manufacturing Day activities on PMMI.org. Among them, PMMI member ARPAC is hosting tours of its Schiller Park facility for students on Friday, Oct. 3. In addition, the Chicago-area JumpStart group — ARPAC, Morrison Container Handling Solutions, Rockwell Automation and Triangle Packaging Machinery — is participating in a career fair at nearby Libertyville (Illinois) High School on Oct. 14. A number of other local events are taking place across the country.

“We’re proud our members are participating in, and even organizing, events for Manufacturing Day,” Ferrante says. “This is a great opportunity to showcase careers in manufacturing — particularly packaging and processing — and the importance of our industry.”

Visit MFGDay.com for more information on Manufacturing Day. PMMI members can sign up for events and post them online throughout the month of October.
